Young Ambassadors of Pupil Voice

Area Delivery Organisation: Cre8us - Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire

Cre8us are empowering young people's voice through 'Young Ambassadors of Pupil Voice!'

Cre8us' 'Young People's Voice' Consultant and practising teacher, Debra Cleeland, together with Creative Agents, Nicola Richardson and James Burkmar, recently facilitated the first Cre8us Young People's Forum.

This event enabled the young people to:

  • better articulate their views;
  • get young people more involved in strategic planning and policy making;
  • provide ideas and methodologies for use in their schools;
  • develop collaborative working relationships between young people and adults;
  • celebrate and communicate what young people really value about the learning in their schools.

The pupils from primary and secondary schools across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire thought the event was a fantastic opportunity to discuss their thoughts on learning and the changes they would like to see in their schools.

Here are some comments from the children who took part in the day:

"We would like to investigate what makes learning fun!"

"We are going to take back what we have learned to try to make people more motivated!"

"We would like teachers and students to understand each other better."

"We want more chances to do presentations and chance to know the teachers better."

Cre8us are pleased to be hosting this event again on 18th March 2010 (9.30am-2.45pm) - please take a look at the Cre8us website for further details (www.cre8us.org.uk) or contact the Cre8us Programme Administrator on 024 7670 7665 or email gemma.smith@cre8us.org.uk
