An exciting new partnership has been formed that will boost the creative skills of many of the region’s young people.

Cre8us, the organisation responsible for delivering England’s Flagship Creative Learning Programme in the sub region, has now joined forces with Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Partnerships Ltd (CSWP).

The Creative Partnerships programme Cre8us is designed to use creativity to develop the skills of young people, raising their aspirations and achievements and opening up more opportunities for their futures.

Cre8us currently works with 52 secondary and primary schools in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire as well as with a range of creative organisations, local authorities and businesses. It strives to make the most of young people’s potential through the development of their creative skills and abilities.

Jo Trowsdale, Creative Director at Cre8us, said: “We work with schools to enable them to find and use creative approaches that will help children solve problems, ask questions and innovate - basically the skills you need for everyday life! By pairing schools with creative professionals, pupils get the chance to experience for themselves how creativity could help them in the workplace.”

“We achieve this by connecting young people and schools to creative partners and organisations, enriching their learning experiences and raising their aspirations.”

“Through our Creative Partnerships programme we will help schools to look at different ways of growing creativity, collapsing timetables, working across subject and year groups, encouraging parents to get involved, and assisting them to work with a range of talented professionals that include film makers, dancers, graphic designers and sculptors.”

Steve Stewart, chief executive of CSWP, said the move further strengthened the support and advice available to young people in the area.

“It is fantastic news that Cre8us has joined us to help develop the potential of young people across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire,” he said.

“Cre8us has a proven track record in helping children and teenagers to reach their full potential and it can only be positive that services and support for young people in this area will be even more extensive.”

Cre8us’ recent bid to Creative Partnerships national office to increase the number of schools in the region benefitting from this programme has been successful. For the next two years 2009/10 and 2010/11 they will be delivering to even more schools. 24 Change Schools and 40 Enquiry Schools in total.
