The Mighty Creatives

Kibworth High School, Smeeton Road, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire

Leicester Tigers Rugby Club and a group of enthusiastic year 9 boys joined forces to work on a sports journalism project to tackle the pupil's English and team building skills.

The 33 pupils got the chance to work with Gary Sherrard, Head of Communications at Tigers.

They focused on writing for a range of audiences, conducting pre-and post-match interviews and making a mock press conference. The sessions were facilitated by the school’s Creative Agent – Caz Dolby, Director of Wildcats Theatre School.

Image Productions also attended the sessions and produced a documentary-style film report of the project.
At the end of the project a teacher resource pack with sample lesson plans and learning activities was published to enable teachers both within school and the local community to sustain the work which has been done through this project.
