Area Delivery Organisation: Creative Partnerships Northumberland, Newcastle & Gateshead
School children from the North-East take centre stage as they create their own live TV show.
Over 100 children from 21 primary schools are preparing to perform in front of TV cameras and a live audience as part of an exciting two-day event entitled CPTV, which is set to take place on 28 and 30 June.
CPTV is a special event celebrating the completion of this year’s successful Creative Partnerships schools programme in Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead and will bring together work from many of the schools that have been involved with the scheme over the past year.
Clare Smith, manager of Creative Partnerships Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead says:
“Creative Partnerships aims to bring together educators, creative practitioners and young people in dynamic and sustainable partnerships designed to increase enjoyment and raise creative thinking skills in schools.
“CPTV is a very exciting and innovative event. I am delighted that so many schools have agreed to take part and showcase the fantastic work that the children have produced through the Creative Partnerships programme.”
A group of children from each school have prepared an original five minute performance of their choice that captures their involvement with the Creative Partnerships programme. Using a set that has been specially created to mimic a live TV show; the groups will take it in turns to perform on the day.
The schools have promised an array of imaginative performances to entertain the live audience from a daring times-table rap by Farne Primary School to a dramatic pirate advert by Kelvingrove Primary School. A group of children from Amble First School have even created a den out of recycled materials which they will use as part of their performance on the day.
Philippa Raper, project manager of CPTV, says:
"The response from the children has been fantastic and it is very encouraging to see so many children getting involved with an event of this scale. Everyone has been working hard and I am very excited to see the performances on the day."
Pupils from Haydon Bridge High School and Prudhoe Community High School will present the shows and form the CPTV stage crew. They have been trained to use the professional TV cameras, lighting displays and sound equipment in preparation for the two-day event where they will manage the production.
A DVD of the event will be produced and presented to each of the schools that have taken part as a reminder of their experience during the Creative Partnerships programme.
