Creative Futures: Celebrating our Success
12 Jul 2010
Creative Futures: Celebrating our Success, was a culmination of the fantastic and innovative work by Creative Partnerships schools across Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead.
Schools from around the region came together at Woodhorn Colliery Museum to showcase an array of imaginative work.
The event was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of schools in developing creative approaches to all aspects of the curriculum and school life. Invited guests had the opportunity to meet the teachers and young people who have gained skills and inspiration, and see what has been accomplished through bold new ways of working.
In total, 24 schools exhibited a variety of work including films, photographic displays, large-scale models and costume. Four schools also entertained the crowd with high-energy live performances, which included a rap by Newcastle’s Farne Primary School, storytelling from Choppington First School in Northumberland, a sketch by children at Benton Park Primary School in Newcastle and a colourful puppet show from pupils at Newcastle’s Cragside Primary School (pictured).
Clare Smith, programme director at Creative Partnerships Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead, said, "The Creative Futures: Celebrating our Success event was a fantastic way to recognise the hard work and determination of the schools involved and applauding the creative approaches they have developed for all aspects of the curriculum and school life."
