Holy Trinity Young People's Art and Literature Exhibition
28 Jun 2010
Area Delivery Organisation: RIO - Forest of Dean, Bristol, Cornwall & Plymouth
A new venture for local children is underway at Harrow Hill on the outskirts of Cinderford, with a collaborative exhibition to showcase the talent and work of pupils engaged in Creative Partnerships.
The 'Holy Trinity Young People's Art and Literature Exhibition' is a display of images and writings that have been created by local young people while undertaking a variety of creative projects in their schools.
Project themes, all based around development and regeneration in the area, include explorations and reflections on the Northern United site, visioning for the Heywood school setting, the invention of Horlicks in Ruardean, writing weather reports using the weather station at Steam Mills and devising sculptural art for the Heritage Trail through Cinderford.
The exhibition has been arranged by Holy Trinity Church in collaboration with the Real Ideas Organisation, which delivers Creative Partnerships in the Southwest and local primary and secondary schools. Schools taking part include Dene Magna, Drybrook, Forest View, Heywood, Littledean, Lydbrook, Ruardean, Ruardean Woodside and Steam Mills.
The exhibition includes work from all stages of development - from early first drafts to polished work - and gives a sense of the journeys that the young people have followed to create their finished pieces.
The first phase of the exhibition was opened on 13 June and has already had an enthusiastic response from parishioners and visitors to the church.
The full exhibition will be on display from Saturday 3 July until Tuesday 20 July. It will be available to all visitors to the church during services and group meetings, but two special Open Days have also been arranged for children, parents and guardians, schools and the general public to visit and view.
