ARC, Dovecot Street, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1LL

** FREE TO ATTEND **

Full on Futures is a careers event run by young people for young people across the Tees Valley. This year the team of young organisers are offering a free CPD opportunity for teachers and careers & guidance professionals to get a taste of alternative careers in creativity, science and innovation. You'll also get to see how young people respond to the day and have a chance to generate new contacts and partnerships.

There are a choice of three activities to begin with:

  • Workshop: Science of Cocktails with the Centre for Life, Newcastle
  • Q & A: Molecular chef, Sean Wilkinson, Head Chef at Chapters Stokesley
  • Walk in Second Life: a journey through the human body by Dave Allinson, Visual Artist

Everyone will be able to experience:

  • VJ: A chance to see what participants have been up to throughout the day including an insight to young people’s workshops such as 'Jobs in Space', 'Art meets Science through performance including the incredible Titan', and the 'Ultimate Science Lesson'.
  • Key note by 'Rick Hall of Ignite!' – the East Midlands creative education organisation who are running the 3 year Ignition STEM programme in schools. Rick has led Ignite! since 2003, first as a programme at NESTA, and now as an independent organisation. A former teacher, actor, writer and director of theatre for young people, Rick was Director of Artswork, the youth arts development organisation from 1991; and prior to that director of theatre in education at Nottingham Playhouse. Rick is now Chair of Artswork and also of Theatre Writing Partnership, a new agency for writing in the East Midlands.
  • Presentation by young organisers from Grangefield and Our Lady and St Bede Schools along with project facilitator, Mike McGrother and NETPark Connector Project, Dr Lorraine Coghill from the University of Durham.
  • Performance: A special finale - one of the world’s most in-demand street performers, Paka and his amazing fire breathing horse, boast HRH The Queen as a previous audience member and having performed all over the world, thrills crowds with his weird and wonderful blend of pyrotechnics and twisted humour.
