UK Centre for Carnival Arts hosts the Creative Partnerships Festival of Learning

Area Delivery Organisation: The UK Centre for Carnival Arts - Luton and Bedford
On Wednesday 13 July the Creative Partnerships programme, delivered by the UK Centre for Carnival Arts for the past three years, went out with a bang, a lot of whistling and a huge round of applause from hundreds of hand-clappers!
People from nearby businesses came out onto the street to see what all the noise was about and were treated to the sight of a mini carnival parade circling the centre, made up of more than 150 children, school staff and creative practitioners marking the end of the Festival of Learning and the UKCCA Creative Partnerships programme.
The festival, described by practitioner Jonathan Lambert as ‘a very special day’, was all about celebrating and reflecting on the creative learning collaborations that have taken place in Luton and Bedford schools thanks to the programme.
Exhibits and activities included drumming, singing and rap workshops; films and performances devised by students; using recycled materials to make things to wear and wave in the parade; the chance to make music on the Lady Zia Wernher School sound trolley; and to visit the Ashcroft High School converted eco bus!
The day was summed up by Chris Loft, a teacher from Goldington Green Lower School in Bedford as "such a wonderful opportunity to go to an event filled with creative people who were obviously happy to be there, sharing ideas and experiences, and to see so many children of different ages and different schools, all enjoying themselves".
